My name is Lisa. I’m a mom, a wife, a cook, and a Registered Nurse. We live on a new and growing farm in Texas. We are a blended family with 5 kids (yes, all my kids, the first 3 from my previous marriage). It’s our job to keep them full and healthy with a good heart and hopefully with their heads on straight.
I am originally from Dallas, Texas, a real city gal. Kevin, my husband, is a country boy from East Texas. Soon after we married, we moved to land where we could call it our own. Kevin and I love raising our children in a place that inspires us to discover, adapt, and create.
I got my name “Farmer Fannie” from co-workers, working the night shift in the ICU. All I talked about is farming and food. So, I earned my name of “Farmer Franny”. Love those gals. Those were some fun, fun times.
Things I love include carbs, gardening, farm-fresh food, and of course, Frannie Merritt Farmer. Frannie Farmer is an inventor of her time and resilient to hard times. This is a woman who despite being partially paralyzed at 16 years old from a stroke, found and developed some of the recipes and cooking techniques we use today. Leveling your measuring cups? She invented and taught those techniques at The Boston School of Cooking. She wrote and published many recipe and homemaking books that are still in publication today. I wish to be only half the woman she was!
I’m obsessed with making this world a better place and eating good food while we are at it. I hope to share with you not only times on the farm with the family but also some recipes that can be used and loved at your house too! All recipes go through a rigorous process that is FARM-ILY approved!
